COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Ally Goniea was named player of the week, while Morgan Paschall earned pitcher of the week honors to give the Lindsey Wilson College softball team a sweep of the Mid-South Conference Softball weekly awards, the conference announced on Monday.
The awards are the first of the season and first career conference honors for Goniea and Paschall.
Goniea went 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate with a home run and eight RBI to take MSC Player of the Week honors.
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Dominating pitching made up for a lackluster performance at the plate to give the Lindsey Wilson College softball team a pair of wins against West Virginia University Tech on Saturday at Lindsey Wilson Park. The Blue Raiders won the opening game 3-0 and edged the Lady Bears 1-0 in eight innings in game two.
Morgan Paschall earned the win in the first game, pitching six innings with six strikeouts and no earned runs. Anyibell Ramirez closed out the game in the seventh inning to earn the save, striking out all three West Virginia Tech batters.
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Anyibell Ramirez allowed one hit in a complete-game performance in game one and left fielder Alexis Rodgers went a combined 3-for-7 with three runs scored to help the Lindsey Wilson College softball team sweep West Virginia University Tech on Friday at Lindsey Wilson Park.
The Blue Raiders topped the Lady Bears 4-0 in game one, then tallied a five inning mercy-rule win in game two 11-0.
Right fielder Megan Huckaby went 2-for-3 with a run, while first baseman Kelly McCarty finished 1-for-3 with two RBI in game one. Game two's top performer was catcher Ally Goniea going 2-for-2 from the plate with a home run, five RBI, three runs, a double and a walk.
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Morgan Paschall made sure the Lindsey Wilson College softball team had a good start in Mid-South Conference play, picking up a pair of wins against Georgetown (Ky.) College on Tuesday at Lindsey Wilson Park. The Blue Raiders won game one 7-2 and took game two 1-0.
Paschall entered in relied for Anyibell Ramirez in the third inning of game one and pitched 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts, while allowing just four hits and no runs. The Nolensville, Tenn., native followed that performance with a complete-game in game two, allowing just five hits in the shutout win with four strikeouts.
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team split a pair of games today in the final day of the University of Mobile Classic.
The Blue Raiders (7-4) lost this morning's opener 1-0 to Reinhardt (Ga.) College but bounced back to beat Spring Hill (Ala.) College 6-0 in their final game of the classic.
