MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The 21st ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to seventh ranked Oklahoma Christian University on Saturday at the Auburn University-Montgomery Spring Tennis Invitational.
Andrews Moraes and Andre Santos were edged at No. 1 doubles by Martin Poboril and Etinenne Leite 8-6, while Freddy Luciani and Marlon Dalpont also came close to registering a win for the Blue Raiders at No. 2 doubles falling to Thomas Van Carter and Renardy Guelfi 8-4.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The 21st ranked Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team lost to second ranked Auburn University-Montgomery 5-0 and beat 13th ranked Xavier (La.) University 5-4 on Saturday during the opening day of the AUM Spring Tennis Invitational.
Auburn-Montgomery took control of the match early with three quick doubles wins, followed by a pair of decisions at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team picked up a win on the road at 10th ranked Union (Ky.) College 5-4 on Tuesday and remained in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the second straight week at No. 21.
The Blue Raiders -- ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll -- opened the season with a 5-2 loss to Shorter (Ga.) College on Thursday, March 4, but bounced back with a win against the Bulldogs.
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team opened its season winning 2-of-3 doubles matches against Shorter (Ga.) College before losing all four singles matches and the match 5-2 on Thursday at the Lindsey Wilson tennis courts.
Andrews Moraes and Andre Santos outlasted Shorter's Badr Cherradi and Luis Quintero 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1 doubles and Freddy Luciani and Marlon Dalpont defeated Bastien Russo and Joshua Jones 8-2 at No. 2 to give the Blue Raiders a 2-1 advantage after doubles play.
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team doesn't open play until March 9 at Union (Ky.) College, but still dropped one spot from its preseason ranking to No. 13 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday.
The Blue Raiders earned 234 points in the first regular-season poll after finishing last season with an 11-5 record, losing to California Baptist University 5-0 in the second round of the NAIA National Championships.
Lindsey Wilson won the Mid-South Conference Regular and Tournament Championship in 2009 behind the stellar play of Freddy Luciani who returns to lead the team this season.
