Blue Raiders capture a pair of first-place finishes on the final day of the championship at Shorter
ROME, Ga. -- Lindsey Wilson College added a pair of first-place finishes on the final day of the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Shorter (Ga.) to finish sixth overall with 90 team points.
Shorter won the MSC Championship with 249 points, Cumberlands (Ky.) took second with 135 and Bethel (Tenn.) rounded out the top three with 115.
Sharon Ronoh captured a win in the 5,000-meter run with a meet-record time of 17 minutes and 52.96 seconds and Reini Brickson took first place in the 5,000-meter race walk with a time of 28:17.13.
Amanda Bland gave the Blue Raiders the top-two spots in the race walk, finishing second in 29:44.44.
Ruth Olson turned in a runner-up performance in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish in 15.9 seconds. Olson backed that up with a fourth-place showing in the 400-hurdles with a mark of 1:07.00.
After winning the 10,000- and 5,000-meter runs, Ronoh continued to take fourth in the 1,500 with a showing of 4:58.81.
Another distance runner, Maria Sanchez, finished eighth in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish in 2:23.72. Sanchez continued to take fourth in the 4X100 meter relay, teaming with Olson, Surea Sherman and Monny Niamke for a time of 51.29 seconds.
Malin Sjoback gave the Blue Raiders an eighth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.47m (4-09.75).
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on May 4 in the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
