COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Anyibell Ramirez allowed one hit in a complete-game performance in game one and left fielder Alexis Rodgers went a combined 3-for-7 with three runs scored to help the Lindsey Wilson College softball team sweep West Virginia University Tech on Friday at Lindsey Wilson Park.

The Blue Raiders topped the Lady Bears 4-0 in game one, then tallied a five inning mercy-rule win in game two 11-0.

Right fielder Megan Huckaby went 2-for-3 with a run, while first baseman Kelly McCarty finished 1-for-3 with two RBI in game one. Game two's top performer was catcher Ally Goniea going 2-for-2 from the plate with a home run, five RBI, three runs, a double and a walk.

First baseman Lindsey Bridges drove in a pair of runs with a 1-for-2 showing at the plate, while McCarty and shortstop Jordan Gilland also added a double in game two.

Ramirez struck out 12 batters in the Blue Raiders 4-0 win to open the doubleheader. While she allowed just one hit, she also gave up just one walk.

With the strong performance from the circle, Ramirez allowed Lindsey Wilson (11-4, 4-0 MSC) to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the first inning as McCarty drove home Rodgers with a fielder's-choice hit.

The Blue Raiders added three insurance runs in the fifth inning with Huckaby leading the charge after singling and then advancing home on a wild pitch by West Virginia Tech's Diana Humphreys.

Ramirez had a no hitter going into the top of the seventh inning but had the performance broken up as center fielder Stephanie Sang led off the inning with a single to left field just out of reach for Rodgers to snag for the out.

The scoring started early for Lindsey Wilson in game two as it finished the first inning ahead 5-0 en route to the shutout win. The hot streak began with Rodgers hitting a single, followed by a single by Ramirez, double by Goniea and McCarty and Bridges being hit by a pitch to spur the rally.

Lindsey Wilson also added three runs in both the second and third innings to finish the scoring and put together a large enough lead to shorten the game into a mercy-rule win after the middle of the fifth inning.

Morgan Paschall earned the win for the Blue Raiders, throwing three innings with just one hit allowed and six strikeouts. Emillee Bush and Emily Poynter also pitched an inning each to close out the game.

In two games, West Virginia Tech (6-13, 0-4 MSC) put together just four hits with Sang accounting for two after a 2-for-4 showing in both games combined.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at noon CT on Saturday, March 13 against West Virginia Tech at Lindsey Wilson Park.
