COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Derek Cape is the Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Cape helped the Blue Raiders win five straight games last week, finishing 1-0 on the mound with a no-hitter against Davenport (Mich.) University on Sunday to secure a 5-0 win.
The Columbia, Ky., product pitched a no-hitter against the Panthers with just one walk and six strikeouts while facing 21 batters.
Cape's performance was the highlight of the game as a run in the first inning was all the offense needed for the win with the ace on the mound. Lindsey Wilson added four insurance runs in the sixth inning to make it an easy seventh for Cape.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, March 12 against the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) at Lindsey Wilson Park.
