GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team scored just four points through the first 12 minutes as Georgetown (Ky.) College took advantage of its off night for a 69-41 win on Monday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
While no Blue Raiders reached double figures scoring, Joshua Cherry led them in scoring with seven points. Andrija Tintor, Darren Ballou, Eric McPherson and Kemo Duncan all added six points for Lindsey Wilson.
Hollis Giles paced the Tigers with 18 points and six rebounds, while Vic Moses added 10 points.
Lindsey Wilson came up with 13 points over the last eight minutes of the first half, but the Tigers continued their strong play and went into halftime in front 37-17.
The Blue Raiders struggled to find any offensive rhythm as Georgetown used an aggressive full-court press to speed up Lindsey Wilson and force 27 turnovers for the game. The Blue Raiders 27 giveaways are a season high, while Georgetown committed just 16 turnovers.
Not much changed in the second half as the Tigers held on to a lead of more than 20 points for nearly every minute of the half. Lindsey Wilson tried to get back into the game by knocking down some jump shots, but struggled from the field and behind the arc.
Ballou hit a 3-pointer with just over a minute to play in the game which was the first make from behind the arc for the Blue Raiders in the game. One 3-pointer is a season low for Lindsey Wilson, the previous low of two came against Talladega College on Nov. 28.
Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting just 37.1 percent from the field, while Georgetown used a variety of easy baskets around the rim to shoot 54.5 percent.
With a 1-for-14 performance, the Blue Raiders shot under 10.0 percent from behind the arc. Georgetown finished the game shooting 36.4 percent (4-for-11) from three-point range.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 8 p.m. CT on Feb. 4 against St. Catharine (Ky.) College at Biggers Sports Center.
