FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Seven Lindsey Wilson College volleyball student-athletes were honored on Monday at the annual Mid-South Conference volleyball awards banquet held before the conference tournament at the Capital Plaza Ball Room.
Senior Sarah Kline, junior Racheal Achieng and freshman Ashlie Haworth were named to the all-conference team.
Senior Kelley Burke, junior Sumyr Knight, sophomores Samantha Camp and Kayla Koerber and Kline were recognized as Academic All Mid-South Conference.
Kline has been honored by the conference all four years of her career. The Georgetown, Ind., native was a second team selection in 2006 and honorable mention in 2007 and 2008.
This season Kline leads the team in assists with 500 and is seventh in kills with 59. On Oct. 10, Kline became the first player in program history to record 3,000 assists, 600 digs and 100 blocks in a career. The senior received her second academic award after also being honored by the conference last season.
The all-conference team honor is the first for Achieng. The Kampala, Uganda native is the team's leading attacker with 283 kills, while also registering the highest hitting percentage at .269. Achieng committed just 98 errors during the regular season on 687 total attacks.
Haworth earned her spot on the team with a stellar freshman season, finishing second on the team in kills with 275, while tallying a team high 351 digs and 55 service aces. At the end of the regular season, the Lanesville, Ind., native ranked 28th in the NAIA in total service aces.
The Academic All-Mid South Conference honors went to student-athletes with a sophomore or higher class standing and 3.25 or above grade-point average.
The 12-woman all-conference team was voted on by the MSC coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Georgetown (Ky.) College senior Erica Janszen was named the MSC Player of the Year and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) newcomer Erin Sherman took MSC Freshman of the Year honors.
No. 4-seed Lindsey Wilson begins play in the MSC Tournament at 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Nov. 10 against No. 5-seed University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at the Frankfort Civic Center.
