COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's track and field team has signed Christian County High standout Sherria Hester to a NAIA scholarship.
Hester finished third at the KHSAA Class 3A State Track Championships in the Girls 400 meter dash with a time of 58.12 seconds. She finished less than a second behind the winning time of 57.32 seconds. Hester earned six points for Christian County her finish.
"Sherria is a great addition to the track and field team," Lindsey Wilson track and field coach Edwin Hagans said."She has the ability to break records and I have no doubt she will qualify for the national championships as a freshman."
In addition to her finish in the 400s, she helped the Christian County 4x200 relay team to a seventh place finish and two additional points.
Thanks to her efforts, Christian County finished the state meet with eight points and a tie for 27th place.
Prior to the state meet, Hester won the Class 3A Region 1 Girls' 400 meter dash with a time of 59.67 seconds to earn a spot in the state championships. She added a second place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.14 seconds.
